WordHouseMKE
It started in September 2020 with a visit to Idaho City, Idaho, were I saw two painted boxes with poems in them. From there I created #WordHouesMKE with the first WordHouse made from scrap wood and dismantled cabinets from my home and installed at Turtle Park in Milwaukee in October 2020.
What is A WordHouse? It is a small, weather-resistant public art installation designed to share inspirational words, poetry, and messages of care with the Milwaukee community. WordHouses are installed in public-facing spaces where neighbors and passersby can pause, reflect, and feel a moment of connection. Each WordHouse is both a functional structure for sharing words & a public art piece created and decorated by local artists.
As of now, there are 12 WordHouses “in the wild” across Milwaukee. You can explore their locations by searching “WordhouseMKE” on Google Maps.
